"Crazy" girlfriends of Reddit, what's YOUR side of the story?

Damn guys. It's too late for me, but here it goes.

I had a great relationship with a punk rock girl. We knew each other in high school, but only just by name. We Facebook friended and I began to post jokes on her statuses, as I do with everyone. One day we ended up messaging blades of glory jokes for thirty minutes. The next day she posted something that have me hints she was thirsty. I don't remember my delivery, but I basically propositioned her for sex. She came over and sex happened. It was casual for a few days, then my brother has extra rodeo tickets so I took her.

We dated for a year and a half, then I had to move across state for college and it simmered down, eventually ending in her dumping me for another guy after cheating on me with him at a concert. I blame myself, because that's the kind of guy I am. I should have broken it off when I moved.

Anyway throughout the relationship she'd read through my phone. She had a weird obsession with murder. She had panic attacks every once in a while. It was odd to see a grown woman act like a scared toddler. Odd and sad. But I'd get close to her and bring her out of it and I really did love her. We had incredible chemistry, and she was an exotic beauty who even shared my interest in sci-fi and anime.

It turned out all of that and then some stemmed from two abusive boyfriends in a row. The last one would rape her in multiple orifices. He was eventually arrested when he was found approaching her college dorm with a giant knife in his backpack.

And that's the story of how I dated a "crazy" chick. I just hope she's happy. I made sure she went to a therapist, and I started her on a diet and exercise program not unlike my own. She hasn't talked to me in a few years which really hurts my feelings, but I still just hope she's doing better mentally and emotionally.
