I have a crazy prediction about reactions to "Solo"....

It depends what they do with Solo. If it's too much like Guardians of the Galaxy, critics are going to compare it unfavorably, while fans who hated Last Jedi are going to hail it as a flawed return to form. (Because it's hard to live up to Harrison Ford.)

If it's too much like Abram's ideas of Kirk, it's just going to annoy everyone who isn't pre-disposed to liking it in the first place.

If it's closer to Quentin Tarantino? It'll show us the Solo we meet in a New Hope. It'll lose the family money, but it'll be a perfect palette cleanser. It'll be odd seeing the left and the right agree on something. Assuming it's good, anyways.

And if it's subverting expectations in exactly the same ways Last Jedi? It'll only cheapen both movies. I really hope it doesn't.
