Credible fears China's lunar exploration program is a cover for developing the ability to attack USA satellites from behind(!) could spark the new space race we need

Don't worry too much: it's ok! My mouse can take a pounding:

I'm using the Deathadder Chroma Mouse, by Razor!

Me thinks, however, you "mashed" the "reply" button a little bit too brusquely yourself! Hopefully you're not using the standard HP mouse that came with your system? If so, it ain't gonna last!

But ya... jokes aside, when it comes to shooting things down from space, I wouldn't count a purposely destroyed satellite, resulting in a scattershot of hyper-ballistic shrapnel littering and speeding across an entire orbital level as particularly impressive (as much as it was foolish) on the part of the Chinese Gvt.

It doesn't take much to take out an orbital level like that--something the USA is perfectly capable of doing in a heartbeat.

As for cheap heavy lift vehicles, when you've got that capability you can easily launch all the redundant and backup satellites you want, along with all kinds of extra goodies... massing in total millions of times what the Chinese military is currently able to send up there.
