Credit cards...

I really doubt this. I have about 15 credit cards so I very likely have one with the same issuer you’re experiencing difficulty with. They all have mostly the same verification requirements. They need to make sure they’re pulling funds from the right bank account otherwise there would be nothing stopping anyone from providing a stranger’s bank information. You usually get a free pass for the first few transactions under a certain dollar amount.

As an aside: why are you paying off the balance every time you use the card? If you have responsible spending habits it would be wiser and easier to enable automatic payments so your entire balance is paid off on time 100% of the time as long as the funds to pay off the balance exist in your bank account.
