It would get particularly frustrating when I would disagree with them and they'd claim that I just "hadn't studied their point of view" despite the fact that I'd just read multiple books and articles that they'd sent me on the matter! Of course, if I asked them to read or research my point of view, they flatly refused.

KJksdfsdjfnsd this always steamed me up back in my pre-NC days. I'd get into these ridiculous debates with them where I'd put together an argument that I spent a lot of time researching and sourcing -- but they didn't care at all. They'd ignore my responses and spew forth endless streams of bullshit. It didn't matter how many of their arguments I struck down or debunked, because they'd ignore it and move onto the next subject.

One time I was on the phone with my N-mother and I sent her a video that I wanted her to watch (that debunked some of her claims that she kept making over and over again). I could hear the video playing on her end for a split second and then suddenly, nothing. She then pretended that her computer's sound was no longer working, and she played dumb as I tried to walk her through getting it working again. Of course it was all bullshit -- she just didn't care and didn't want to watch the video. I doubt she ever read anything I ever sent her, either.

I soon stopped taking the bait, which prompted my N-mother to go around telling everyone that I was scared to debate her anymore because she was so smart that she could out-debate her highly-educated child.
