Is crime really that bad in Alberta?

I live in Lethbridge, have lived here for the past 5 years. Crime/open drug use has gotten worse over the past 3 years, and the rate of theft and deviant behaviour has gone up in certain areas of the city. If you're going to move here, you should look for a neighborhood AT LEAST 8 blocks away from anywhere downtown, 3 Ave S, 13 Ave N, and Stafford Drive. That's where a lot of foot traffic from the SCS and homeless shelter is, and the rate of property theft is much higher in these areas.

Pretty much anywhere in West Lethbridge will be perfectly fine. There are a couple places along Columbia Blvd W in the student ghetto that have some unsavory characters, but all in all, West Lethbridge is very safe. Overall, unless you live within that 8 block radius I mentioned above, you probably won't see much out of the ordinary. The crime rate has gone up in Lethbridge, yes, but it's mainly around those areas I mentioned above.
