Crinsom Doubles and the Meta

The flavor text now reads, "On initial spawn only, this weapon gains additional ammo." It used to say, "Occasionally on respawn, this weapon gains additional ammo." However, I've never had it get me ammo any time except for initial spawn. So I believe the perk still works the same, they just made the flavor text more accurate as to how the perk actually behaves.

So all in all, my mindset is that recently, Bungie put an interest in Double Down. A big enough interest to warrant actually changing text in the game. So when you take that and the fact the perk is still in the game (with no mention from Bungie of removing the perk), then combine it with how their engine loads out your weapon, armor and ammo based off perks from said weapons and armor while loading into a mission, PvP match, etc, I'm really hopeful about Double Down still functioning in these no special on spawn gametypes.

I don't have too much knowledge of the way their engine loads your loadouts, but they discussed it a little bit a long time ago. I don't know how long you've been playing, but if you're a day 1 player or at least played during Dark Below, then you'll remember how you always lost heavy ammo when you died. This was actually a bug that resulted from the way the game scanned your weapons and armor and [incorrectly] did your ammo counts after. I wish I could link directly to what the dude from Bungie said. But he was essentially telling us that they're working on the problem and gave some insight to how their engine works, in regards to loadouts and ammo, to help us understand why it was taking so long to get fixed. So I'm essentially basing all my hope that double down will still work on what he said; specifically, the part where he said the engine determines ammo counts after taking into consideration weapon and armor perks. And it took them what, like 6+ months after game launch to finally just fix a glitch that made you lose one or two rockets after dying and respawning? I'm hoping it would be just as hard for them to make double down not work in a no special spawn playlist.
