Critique me like I'm someone who just kicked a kid into the curb. Pretty please.

It doesn't matter what it's for. When my eye sees something as bad design I see bad design(perhaps under-developed is a better term) regardless of if I know the context of your world or not. Of course what I view as bad design might not be so to another person because everyone has their tastes. If the context is so important, then you should've posted multiple images of the world so people could get a feel for it. I have no choice but to critique the drawing based on what I see not the intentions in your head. If it isn't apparent from this stand-alone image that this is supposed to some form of propaganda that usually isn't the fault of the viewer. Maybe I'm alone in not getting that this was supposed to be a fictional propaganda image just by looking at it, but I doubt it.

I already addressed this in my original comment but yes every single critique you are ever going to get by anyone of any skill level is going be based on their own preferences. There is no objective way to critique a person's art. So please don't tell me how I should do paint overs. I will do them to correct what I see as visual problems and as a consequence, my own preferences will come into play. You take what is useful from it and discard what isn't there is really no need to instruct me as to how I should be giving critiques as I find it somewhat condescending. if you don't like it or don't find some part applicable, then disregard and move on. If a paint over is not an effective way for you to learn then maybe you should consider putting that you don't want paint over,s the text of your post. Once again, I have no way of reading your mind and knowing the exact level of paint over that would suit your specific needs. If you re-read my original comment then you will see I did, in fact, encourage other people to do paint-overs because I know that my preferences are subjective and it might be good to see how someone else interprets this.

In the title of your post, you seemed to be asking for harsh and straightforward critique. It makes no sense to ask for that then get it and then complain about the disparities between artist and critic. If something I wrote in the critique isn't clear you are welcome to ask for clarification but you really don't need to defend your design/comp choices to me or anyone else if you are confident that they convey to a viewer what you are trying to convey. If your vision is so solidified and you feel like you've thought hard enough about your design choices that you can defend every last one of them, then you probably shouldn't be asking for critique.
