Crying at the Manitoba Border: “A lot of grown men were crying,” Klassen said. “We didn’t think he was going to enact that. We could lose everything.” -Winnipeg Sun

Not to mention what if there's a mistake and the bank mixes you up with someone else with the same/similar name as some on the list? And you can't go after the bank for the freeze either. They have legal immunity as part of these measures.

I'm someone who's twice had their accounts drained to $0 due to a "mistake" with another person at Scotia with the same last name and same first initial withdrawing everything I had. The teller accidentally opened my account instead of theirs. Not sure how that can happen with pin numbers and identity verification, but it did. Twice in two years. My money was returned within a day or two, but it still happened. I never got a straight answer out of Scotia either. Barely an apology.

I have very little faith that the banks won't screw this up somehow.

I am not going to be surprised to see a bunch of articles in the coming days about people having their accounts frozen who had nothing to do with anything.

Can you imagine if you couldn't pay your mortgage because of a clerical error, but it was on the federal government's orders. It'll take a lot longer than a day or two to straighten out.
