I’ve taken Cymbalta twice and had horrible reactions both times.
During my first round of Cymbalta (age 19), It made me vomit regularly an hour or so after taking, but I felt like it did help some with thoughts of suicide. I still had severe mood swings (crying one minute, fine the next), but I was also on the birth control Deprovera at the time. I stopped taking it around the 60 day mark due to the vomiting.
The second time I tried it (age 21-22), I didn’t vomit regularly, but it gave me intense acid reflux and heartburn. It hurt so bad the first time that I thought I was having a heart attack. After a few weeks, I figured out it was acid reflux, so I started taking Omeprazole and Ranitidine to help combat the heartburn and acid reflux, but it didn’t help. During those several weeks, despite my reactions, I felt like it was beginning to help with me feel more “normal”, but because of my adverse reaction, I had to ween myself off of it.
It seemed to be one of the more promising antidepressants I’ve tried, in terms of feeling better emotionally, but I couldn’t handle the physical side effects. That was the last antidepressant I’ve ever taken.
