Culture War Roundup for the Week of March 18, 2019

I personally subscribe to the view that "Our President is not a foreign agent" is unreservedly good news.

But I think the opposing view should be understood as "Trump is so bad for America that it's a same we don't have a way to get rid of him early", rather than something like "I personally don't like Trump and will do anything to get rid of him so this is bad news" or "I'm embarrassed about what I've been saying the past 2 years so this is bad news, who gives a shit about America."

I like a speculative psych explanation as much as the next guy (more so even, I would wager), but human motivations tend to be compound rather than simple: they are rarely pure gold or lead. If we focus on our opponents' lead, it's only fair that they get to focus on ours.

Besides, there is plenty wrong with the first view (in general if a President is bad for America we should focus on voting him out instead of playing Constitutional gamesmanship)
