curing binge eating by… binge eating? thoughts?

That makes sense. My bulimia started when I was about 10, and I think was rooted in some food scarcity/withholding issues. A big part of my later recovery was to eat regular, healthy meals- and keep ample foods around. Once my brain started to understand- the food isn't going anywhere, no one is going to eat it while you're out or throw it away because it's "bad"- my impulse to overeat and purge (in that context) started to resolve.

One of my worst relapse periods was when my shitty ex-husband would drink & smoke, then eat up all of the house food and act like I was fucking crazy for being upset about it. It took maybe two years to stop the consume & purge cycle. I am now thankfully at a point where I have a considerate family, who understand how important just keeping a constant amount of any food around is to me. Just the security of food has helped me heal from that aspect of my ED. I think BED people could benefit from the same type of thing, but it has to be done so thoughtfully- and you can't just binge on the food supply because the cycle will only repeat.
