Sad you have such a negative connotation of drugs that you assumed he must be depressed or something to use drugs. Lots of incredible feeling people like to feel even more incredible. Psychedelics give you a perspective on things that you've never experienced before, alot of people consider taking them at least once important for understanding yourself and your place in the universe. The experience is often times extremely introspective, maybe it would help you to be more understanding of everybody and acknowledge that all situations are different and have more to them than meets the idea.
