I get where you're coming from, and it might be valid for many People, but not everybody is the Same. My comment was more focused on the part "Sitting with Someone & Drinking Coffee while Listening", and not about the Advice Part. Sometimes, just knowing that you can always talk to someone regardless of your Circumstances is all a Person Needs. Tbh, I'm actually more swayed on your Perspective of the Issue, as I also like to deal with things a Little More Objectively, while also having this sorta Stupid Complex of being Virtually Invincible. Bad jokes are an Outlet for me too Sometimes :P . It's just that I've seen stuff happen which could've been avoided if only the Person involved would've had 1 Person to talk to.
