Do cyclists have to wait like cars at red lights at crossroads when the man is green and the crossing is a Toucan crossing?

It is not arbitrary though is it? That's kind of the point.

Running red lights in a car would potentially be very dangerous or at the very least disruptive, cars have reduced visibility, travel much faster, are much heavier and take up much more room.

It's very much a good thing that cars obey these rules, and when I drive I am very happy to wait at a red light, it doesn't bother me because I know it's necessary.

On a bicycle not so much, there are times where running a red light is perfectly safe and inconsequential. Even safer. A bicycle might be sharing the road, but it is a very different type of vehicle.

Cyclists aren't arbitrary deciding they are above the law, they are just applying a bit of logical thinking to a completely different situation than that witch a driver faces.

I perfectly understand resentment against, say Audi drivers not using their blinkers. That is a group of people arbitrarily deciding they are ok to break the rules. That does not apply to cyclists though. It's not arbitrary, as bicycles are nothing like cars.
