The D.I. box problem

Not sent yet, need clearance :(

Before your guitarist has any ideas to get noisy about working with professional sound engineers and their equipment I think the following will be of use.

This link is why we use a DI box. http://www.dawsons.co.uk/blog/why-use-a-di-box

As well as the balanced signal that DI box also allows the sound engineer to attenuate the signal by 20/40/60 Db before using the 20Db pad at the desk.

I understand that he thinks all of your equipment is already outputting "as a DI" but it doesn't matter to us as we need a correct balanced signal. It's not as important to digital desks as analogue but it's a nice thing to have that noise cancellation.

We had a major time pressure so to get you on stage i bypassed the DI boxes and used them as links and adapted the stagebox end. Note that I adapted to suit his 'knowledge'.

I used a 40 Db pad on the drums at the Di and had a clean signal. At 0Db it was distorted to me.

I used a 20Db pad on both guitars at the desk and was still struggling with levels due to my work around.

In the end it all worked and client and customer were happy but I was not.

Oh, NEVER plug your own kit into a stagebox again, I like to put 240v up lines i've not assigned to you.
