D.C. to relax restrictions May 21, reopen fully June 11.

Honestly I'll be vulnerable for a second. I don't care either way about the re opening plan because in my eyes we never shut down. Seeing people whine because they can't go to concerns to they have to order a fucking pretzel with their beer makes me want to scream, though, and seeing people get mad at other people for not trusting the decision makers that have privileged investment class profits over our lives and local businesses is even worse. I hate that people have the energy to petition on behalf of going to the bar when we couldn't even get that 2k check from congress. I'm just disgusted by how spineless and myopic, and lazy Americans are.

Honestly, I'd like for us to wait for the rest of the world to be not totally popping off. Doomers (ie people who think COVID is/was inevitable) make the argument that the US could never successfully lock down like the New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Etc. so COVID was inevitable-- but then also say we should open now bc our numbers are low? But globally we are experiencing more cases per day than ever. So which is it? Are we an international hub beholden to global trends, or are we MA the island unaffected by global case counts?

Honestly the answer doesn't matter because decisions are being made on their economic not public health merit and people like us are left with pos-hoc rationalization and a choice between cope and resentment.
