D-Day 75th anniversary: Remembering Wing Commander Tan Kay Hai, the only S’porean to have flown on D-Day

No, research is more than merely reading newspapers. Facts and figures are already there, you just have to read and talk to more people other than just a friend in a relevant department.

I also do not discount individual experiences; sure, one or two persons saying that accidents are covered up may not give a serious impression. But when that one or two people turn into more among separate groups of friends and acquaintances, should I believe what the relevant department is saying, or should I believe what more and more people are saying, without any collaboration from each other?

However, I agree with your point that the solution is for Singaporeans to take NS more seriously. It is exactly as you say; an occupational hazard. It is much much more dangerous than a rifle round finding its way into the wrong target.

Perhaps I am reading too much into the recent spike in deaths. Perhaps I am merely dissatisfied with the lack of accountability. Or perhaps I spook too easily when hearing stories of vehicle collisions and overturns.
