I think you guys failed to see the big picture. Don't just think of this as just about a machine playing game but consider this: Baltimore PD hooks the whole city up to be constantly monitor, under limited condition (low enough camera resolution so that they won't see the license plates on car so that they won't violate illegal search and privacy), and got into a lot of trouble for not being up front with the public. Bit if you look more into this surveillance technique, developed by the U.S army to combat Improvised Explosive Devices (I think this is why we don't hear much about car bombs anymore, image you have the whole city traffic monitored by taking a 60 miles square grid picture every second, you can tell who stop a car in what corner and where did they go afterward). Now image we can put really good cameras in orbit, constantly monitor every inch of land on Earth, have AI analyse the data and solve problems such as traffic jams, smuggling, crimes, and everything under the sun. In that context, AI being able to play DOTA is a big milestone.
