D4NNY's back in the studio

Maybe this kid has money, I don't know. We can't know that, just like we can't know how seriously he takes himself. So let's go back to that vacuum. Money spent vs money asked for. The former, an indication that not only do you think that your art is worth the investment, but that you think your art is worth far more than the investment so as to allow for a return on the investment. The latter, something that either of us could do right now about literally anything. I could sell you my toenail clippings for $200, claiming that it's art. You might even buy them, but none of that hinges on me actually believing that my toenail clippings are worth that much. To spend hundreds of dollars on studio time is a much clearer indication that someone actually believes in that investment. It could be, although parents who would drop hundreds of dollars on their kid without question are rarer than not, that his parents are rich and did just that. We've seen that before. Rebecca Black, for example. But that's still not an indication that someone, and likely many people involved, aren't delusional about the art in question.

Say a guy makes a shitty sculpture of sonic out of pure gold. Maybe his parents are rich, who knows, you still have to be a maniac to do that, exhibiting very little self awareness of your own ability as an artist. Maybe D4NNY has rich parents, which, again, would require him to be a part of a statistically smaller group of people, he still spent that money on studio time, made a video, put it out there.

But even all of that considered, we can't realistically go up to every post in this sub and try to somehow determine how rich the parents are, how seriously they are with their own appraisal if their talent. A lyric might be part of the act, but so might a youtube comment, or a price on facebook, etc. Let's instead take these artists at their word, and assume that they mean what they say about themselves, assume that they invested in themselves, assume that they value themselves, seriously, and not instead as some sort of in-on-the-joke act. Because if we start from the latter position, no post on here is safe.
