do dad's lose hobbies when having kids?

I'm a guitarist, before baby was born I practiced on average 2 hours a day. Now I'm lucky to practice 2 hours a week. I tried to keep up with it as much as possible when she was first born but babies are exhausting, they create loads of extra work and housework and you can't leave them unsupervised. In the evening when she goes down to bed at 8-8.30 i pick up the guitar sometimes, but often she'll wake and need resettling, or ill be too mentally exhausted to do anything meaningful.

I do however prioritise exercise over guitar because being fit, strong and healthy is more important to me, so if music is your only hobby you may find more time than I do.

I guess my point though, is manage your expectations for a while. Expect your hobbies to take a back seat and remember that it's not forever. Expect to have no time, and if you find time then it's great.
