DAE love turning on multiple small lamps and led lights instead of having the main lamp in the room turned on?

I have all overhead lighting in my house, and I normally don't like it on either.

I almost never turn it on in my living room unless I'm cleaning at night, looking for something, etc. I have a torch lamp in one corner that I use for day to day stuff early in the evening, then I've got a table lamp in another corner I'll use for just extra lighting if I'm only watching TV.

I only use my dining room overhead when I'm reading during a meal, or have company.

My kitchen overhead stays on the most. Mainly though because I have an open room that corners off the kitchen which functions as a computer room. That little room also has an overhead, but it's unnecessary since I'm mostly using my desktop for gaming. The kitchen overhead shines in just enough to give me the small amount of light I need, which is why it's on a lot.
