Warning: Somehow this turned into a novel. The bottle of wine is finished (LOL as I judge these ladies). Apparently I have many opinions on Teen Mom. I apologize.
I think they should drop them all, and either end the show or start over with TEEN MOMS! The cast members are nearing their 30's and have been making 6 figures for years. They do not represent the teen mom struggle. Lets dive into why every cast member sucks and they should all be replaced.
Maci and Chelsea: Yes I know Chelsea has quit, but she fits this category and the complaints of the last couple of seasons. These two live relatively normal lives, and everyone thinks their stories are boring. Their only story lines are their shitty baby daddies and those are barely even story lines anymore and get played up for the camera. The only other "drama" is that people think Maci is an alcoholic... true or not, this never plays out on the show and never provides anything entertaining. (Side note: I actually enjoy watching these two because it's nice to see that some of these families turned out somewhat normal, but I know I am in the minority on this and many don't like them or their parenting and or their privilege).
Amber: Should have been removed from the show ages ago. She is a serial abuser, shows no remorse for her hateful and insane behaviour, is a piece of shit mom, is a piece of shit pet owner, refuses to take any accountability for her actions, and is all around a piece of shit human being. It is fine to acknowledge that she suffers from mental illness, but the fact that she knows this, has been diagnosed, and still does not take active steps to better herself (especially considering she has access to way more than most people with mental illness), continues to make poor choices, act violently, take no accountability for her actions and to go even further and belittle her victims and mock their reactions to her abuse.... It is beyond unacceptable. Her mental illness is not her fault but it does not excuse her horrible actions or lack of accountability. The fact that she is still on the show is reason enough not to watch teen mom OG.
Cait and Ty: I don't care to watch another season with these two (again nearing their 30's) having no jobs, talking about how they want to have ANOTHER child even though Cait barely has her mental health under control (not to mention they owe hundreds of thousands in taxes), neglect the animals they have, cross major boundaries with their adopted daughter/adoptive family, and basically just spend their entire season exhibiting their super unhealthy co-dependent relationship. (Also fuck Cait's clickbait... and also Ty's poetry.. but mostly her disgusting clickbait. Who the fuck monetizes their miscarriage?! link in bio).
Cheyene: She isn't even close to a teen mom. She was in her mid twenties when she had Ryder. She should have never been on the show to begin with. On top of this, she came from money and had money from reality tv (why she was cast to begin with). She has never had to struggle as a "teen mom" or even as a "young mom". Her biggest struggle was the fact that she didn't know who Ryder's dad was at first (no judgement) and that she was in love with Corey who didn't love her back. Who cares. I don't need to watch her have 10,000 professional photo shoots and talk about how Ryder misses Corey because he is on another season of The Challenge. How the fuck is that "teen mom".
Jade: Was barely a teen when she had Kloie (19, though at least 19 still has the word teen in it unlike the twenty-five Cheyene was sporting when she had Ryder... also it actually hurts me to spell her name). She is much like the other messy mothers of the teen mom franchise. She had promise. She had the opportunity to learn, grow, develop and better herself and her daughter's life (especially with the added income of the show). If she had progressed from her first season to now and changed even a little bit maybe she would be okay to watch (although I again argue that almost 20 barely counts as teen mom material). But instead, every season she's been on, has been her and Sean, and their TOXIC on and then off again relationship.. her and her parents, and their TOXIC on and then off again relationship.. Her letting her child be in the care of Sean, her mom and her stepdad.. when they are all very clearly actively using drugs and she knows it. Her inability to cope with her toddler, acting like.. a toddler. The fact that her relationships involve the police being called every season is fucked. Maybe MTV thinks that's entertaining? It's not. Some poor child is growing up in this. I do not enjoy watching her segments. I watch the show in spite of her segments. She reminds me of Jenelle. She wasn't dealt a fair hand in life, sure. But she is going to be a perpetual victim in life, continue to go back to men that are no good for her and act abusively, make excuses for the shortcomings in her life and for the toxic people in her life, and she will boast about all of her accomplishments and how hard she has worked (aka accomplishing two things: getting a cosmetology licence (yay!) and starting "her salon" (aka working at Sola salon and then getting fired for her messy bf and family business at work, smoking, unprofessional dress and conduct, and not showing up for pre-paid appointments) for the next 10 years.
Kail: To be honest, I don't think I have to spend much time here as I think we're all pretty much on the same page. Again, not dealt a fair hand in life. Whether you liked her or not, at least she showed promise in the early seasons. She was trying to go to school and get an education, she cut her toxic mother out of her life, worked actual jobs to support herself and was a decent, present mom. Unfortunately at some point her personal growth stopped.. She has been routinely physically and verbally abusive with multiple partners throughout the years, has abused the legal system (ridiculous PFA's even when she was the one who was physical) (which I will add extra pisses me off because people like her HURT abuse victims by delegitimizing their claims), has become an anti science/anti-vax lunatic, subjects her children to her messy, toxic relationships, takes inappropriate photos with ponies in Iceland during a pandemic while pregnant, fights with cast members, is a GIANT hypocrite when it comes to basically everything, is a perpetual victim (seems like a common theme among these ladies) and just all around is unlikeable and not interesting to watch anymore (actually less than not interesting. I couldn't give a shit about her messy Chris and Javi problems, which is the only thing she is willing to film about aside from promoting her awful Coffee Convos podcast). (I would like to note that I actually rooted for Kail for longer than most. I was one (shamefully) who made excuses well into when this sub really started disliking Kail. I think she is in many ways a good parent (especially compared to many moms on the show), however, she has shown that she is willing to repeatedly expose her children to toxic relationships, is abusive, takes no accountability, and has shown at this point is never going to change these things in a meaningful way).
Brianna: Ugh. I think I am in part getting sick of writing this novel and that is why I am so not into Brianna. But also. Brianna. Ugh. Again. I liked her in 16 and pregnant. I was not opposed to her joining teen mom, and actually though it could be a good addition. But the only way to describe her in the last couple of seasons is messy. And although messy was possibly interesting or entertaining to watch when they were 16 and 17, it is just sad as they approach 30. I don't think Devoin deserves any praise and agree he should pay child support if she has Nova full-time, but I also believe she stirs up fake shit for the show which is deplorable. Why would you go out of your way to try and start drama with the only active father figure in either of your girls lives (and again, Devoin is a dipshit and should pay child support, but when Brianna talks about how she has no money and then her newest future baby daddy posts the expensive ASSAULT RIFLE she gifted him it is hard for me to really give a fuck about her woe is me complaints while refusing to take him to court). The entire relationship with Javi was fucked. The drama with Kail, especially at the reunion was fucked. How her and the coven behave, and what they think is normal is fucked (no, I am not judging them for living together and raising her girls together. What I am judging is that they think it's normal/appropriate for Roxanne to jump up on a table in a public restaurant to have an argument and other such behaviours from all of them). Again. Brianna is someone I watch the show in spite of.
Leah: Alright, many will disagree with me here, but hers is probably one of the only stories I still find interesting. I feel like despite her MLM scams and her stand in your power cult, she is one of the only ones who has shown real personal growth and improvement in the last couple of years. She's done a lot of fucked up shit, but is one of the only girls to actually own up to it (even if it took a couple of years). Saying this though, I think the twins are too old to be on the show anymore and it is time to end this story.
In summary: Get rid of them all. They either are horrible people who don't deserve air time nor a large salary, boring to watch, or were never even teen moms. On top of that, the children of the older cast members are too old to be on the show anymore (and probably have been for years). Give them some god damn privacy and quit exploiting them.
