[DAI Spoilers] Solas, the Blight, and the Grey Wardens.

Since DA:O, the lore in every successive game has reinforced the notion that the darkspawn, and by extension the blight itself, are at home in the deep roads. However, it has always been suggested that this is merely an association or result of the Archdemons being underground. But from what we have learned in Trespasser, [spoiler](/s the elves' Eluvian network connected directly to the deep roads, and there were signs of elvhen architecture as well as mining and transport of lyrium. Solas himself mentions that if he had not created the veil, that the Evanuris would have destroyed the entire world, but what was it that the Evanuris did that could jeopardize all of Thedas?

I believe the answer lies with the titans. I believe that in the distant past, at the height of their empire, the elvhen led a war against the dwarves and the Titans, killing titans and mining their remains for lyrium while "freeing" the drawrves of the hivemind-like connection to the titans in the process. Since we know that the Evanuris were elvhen mages, I suspect their motivation for doing this had far less to do with the supposed liberation of the dwarves, and was merely fueled by the evanuris' collective lust for greater power. We know that magic was widespread and refined among the elvhen at this time, but how else could mortal beings, even the Evanuris, achieve their godlike status and power? With Lyrium, and lots of it.

There is a codex entry is Trespasser, found in the deep road mines, I believe, which reads "What the Evanuris in their greed could unleash would end us all. Let this place be forgotten. Let no one wake its anger. The people must rise before their false gods destroy them all". What if the darkspawn exist in such great numbers all throughout the deep roads not simply because of the call of the Archdemons, but because the blight originated there? If Lyrium is the "blood" of titans, and red lyrium is lyrium that has been corrupted by the blight, then what if red lyrium is not a symption of the blight, but the source of it? Could it be that the elves' destruction of the titans that cause the red lyrium to manifest, and subsequently resulted in the outbreak of the blight through the deep roads, as it spread and infected thaig after thaig?)

Of course, I can't say with any certainty. But it is something I have considered since completing the Descent and Trespasser.
