Not sure if this is the place for something like this, but i think my inlaws may be in the middle of a pet adoption scam. My father in law a lover of all dogs but specifically northern breeds has started the process of buying a malamute from this website www.puppyalaskanmalamutes.com He made his initial payment for the dog and was supposed to receive it today. When the dog didn't arrive today he reached out to the seller and was told that he needed to pay an additional $1000 fee for insurance for shipping the dog from Michigan to where he lives. He's already sent the seller two money grams (one which supposedly wasn't sent correctly) which to me was a huge red flag to begin with. There's a long backstory as to why he'd even contact someplace like this but the reality is he's older and kind and trusting by nature. Today he was told that the puppy is sitting at the airport in Michigan. I honestly want to contact the police as this seems like a classic scam where someone is moving the goalpost. The seller has apologized saying that the fee for insuring the puppy for shipping is 1300 but they "feel bad" so they'll pick up $300. My father in law is literally in tears about this poor puppy (that i'm convinced doesn't exist) at the airport and I'm worried he's going to send more money that he really doesn't have . To complicate things this was supposed to be a surprise so i'm not technically supposed to know any of this (relationships with inlaws are complicated so directly asking him about this situation is off the table for now). I guess my TL/DR is does anyone have any experience with this website?
