Man...as a graduate from May, I'm pretty pissed at myself for waiting so long to start seriously (30+ applications a week) applying for jobs. I thought getting a job would be easy, so I waited until the end of August to start applying because I wanted one last summer break. And then, I was only applying to a few jobs a week, only now as the year is coming to a close and I'm getting more desperate am I applying this much.

Side note, I'm an IS grad, not CS, I just come here because it feels more relevant than /r/ITCareerQuestions since most here are seniors/recent grads, whereas over there it seems to be mostly those without degrees trying to get a job at the help desk.

Part of the problem was 1. I thought I wanted to be a junior/associate sysadmin and then only last weekend realized I want to do Business Intelligence or Data Analysis, which luckily I'm more qualified for an associate or junior or entry level role in either of those than Jr Sysadmin. Plus, Jr Sysadmin jobs are rare, whereas BI and BA and Data Analyst jobs are abundant. Secondly, I have the problem that I feel like I have to work at some well known company in the Bay Area, mostly just to prove to people I'm good enough, so I'm reluctant to pursue any leads that aren't at a top company. I just want the reputation of working at Google, VMware, Salesforce, etc...I just feel like if you don't work at the biggest, best, and brightest companies, no one will think you are the best or brightest. I know that's not true, but it's more so a personality defect of my own and me trying to compensate for my past.

Anyways, just rambling, back to applying.
