Are crypto banks a thing yet? I thought Coinbase filed to be a bank but I haven't heard anything from that yet.

It would be nice to store money in a regulated bank, fdic insured, and be able to automatically convert your BTC or Fiat directly into a cryptocurrency.

For example, use BTC for high amounts of money for security purposes, Nano for a quick coffee, ETH to interact with a smart contract, Monero for everyday purchases (although that would probably ruin the privacy of it could be traced back to a bank account).

The applications are apparent and numerous for non developed nations or counties with economic or political distress, but the crypto bank would be a great application for Europe/Canada/US etc
