one thing i realized about performative & symbolic bullshit is it’s always people from protected classes that make a majority

this i feel is because it allows them to feel they’re doing something about real issues without literally doing anything

if you’re part of a minority or marginalized group you’ll know NO NUMBER of marches, colors, parades & whatever contributes to any real change

you can literally make the whole world march & systemic racism would be even more prevalent than ever

you can make all the woman protest with signs & THEY STILL ban abortions & would try to criminally punish you

you can gay pride support all you want & they go give the world cup to literally one of the most hostile countries in the world to host

you can’t win oppression with symbolism so i find it excruciatingly annoying to see people fight for symbolism more than real life change

truly marginalized folks need laws changed more than they need fucking kneeling or colors

& the nerve of france to summon gueye when they’re literally a country known for religious division & muslim women can’t wear a hijab (imagine that)

to witness the effort people put into symbols & not actual change can be disheartening because it truly shows what they care about, patting themselves on the back for posting online about rainbow colors, tell me one thing colors ever solved!?

can we all band together to make real change!?

like someone should make a post about how to effect real change to make the LGBTQ more happy in real life, i’d rather commit to that because it’ll affect them in real life & make them happier than any fucking rainbow jersey on a tv screen would
