Why support a "local" club if it has no ties to your community? If the team two hours away is in a predominantly white, urban, secular, community, and you are from a black, rural, Christian community why would you identify with that club? It's an illogical argument you are making. You are equating distance with identity and it's a very one dimensional way of thinking.

Let's say I support a club 3 hours away because it happens to be the closest club. What happens if a new club emerges in a different city 2 hours away? Do I switch teams because it is now the closer team?

Additionally, what happens if you grew up in more than one city? Let's say your family is from City X and supports Club X but relocated to City Y when you were young. Are you saying you can't support Club X because Club Y is the closer team, even though you grew up identifying with Club X? It's nonsense.
