God people can’t seem to shut up about the high line. It’s gonna become the new “where’s Buvac?”, isn’t it? Like seriously, go back and look at the second half of the Barca game at Anfield. Up until CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY we played a really effective high line and pretty much kept Barca quiet the entire half. The moment we took the lead we dropped back into a low block and there was ZERO penetration.

The high line only seems to come into use when we’re chasing games, which is why we saw it during the Chelsea game and during the Norwich game. We’re well capable of dropping back and soaking pressure if the situation calls for it, it’s just we haven’t needed it. Hell, we’ve played a higher line pretty much in all our games since the New Year game at the Etihad.

The real concern is how our midfield has been getting overrun. That’s something that we cannot sustain. Hopefully with a week’s prep and early season rust gone our midfield can elevate because god knows they need to.
