It doesn't really make sense for Tesla to reduce prices because of lower costs to make the batteries, they're already selling every car they can make so they'd only reduce prices significantly if they could make way more cars.

If they make batteries that are much more energy dense, then they could just sell cars with the same range (using less cells) and maybe add new LR+ versions for higher prices.

If we buy now, the things that we could potentially miss out on are physical changes that just aren't possible now. Like maybe much faster charging or much less long term degradation. Tesla battery packs are already pretty good on long term degradation, so there's not a lot of room for improvement there. That would probably make more of a difference to people buying the Semi, who might actually see a million miles of use while they own it.

So that just leaves faster charging, which is limited by the superchargers, but it could be something where the batteries can take a higher charge rate for much longer, or do it over a larger range of temps, etc. That would be a big improvement, and it's something that might be worth waiting for? But it would also be something that Tesla could arguably charge more for?

Overall I'd say that the chances for a dramatic change is pretty small, and if there is a big change, it might not actually translate in to a much better deal for new buyers? But battery is likely to only be a couple months away, if you don't need a new car now, and you don't mind waiting a couple months isn't that long.
