So I get that there are a few things that Chilwell has over both Tagliafico and Telles. He's younger, experienced in a top league, and to some people he represents a better balance of offensive and defensive skills than either of the others. And perhaps that's why Frank seems to want him even at a large premium.

But consider someone else who can match most of Chilwell's advantages: Sergio Reguilon. He's the same age (they were only born five days apart!), also has experience in a top league, and also has a good balance between attack and defence. In fact, their stats this season are almost identical. The only real differences are that Chilwell is a bit better at aerial duels and Reguilon is a bit better at dribbling.

Reguilon is also potentially available. He's stuck behind Ferland Mendy and Marcelo, and Real need money for their inevitable Mbappe bid. I assume that's one of the reasons why they're not making any major purchases thus summer. According to paper talk, he's available for €30m.

So why is Frank so enamoured with Chilwell that he wants us to pay twice as much to get him? Is being English really that valuable? Or has he met Chilwell in person and vibes well with him?
