Daily FAQ Thread - tech support, game recommendations, and more! January 29, 2016

Well this thread is a good example of why Nintendo is a failing company. Not even the subreddit is willing to listen to consumer advice or even allow it to be posted. They just hold their hands over their ears and go LA LA LA LA SUPER MARIO. Here's what i wrote before your rude bot deleted it.

Read that again one more time ^ Think about it... Nintendo's biggest selling platform that is essentially what is holding up the company is the 3DS. A simple search on Google will show and prove to you that the 3DS has sold more units than the PS4 and XBOX One combined, it is certainly the world's favourite dedicated handheld gaming device if not considering smartphones and tablets. A major benefit to the 3DS as well, is that it can also play DS games, arguably Nintendo's best selling console ever. So IF the future of the 3DS is actually within the NX where the rumors tell us that it will be both a home console and also have a portable system that acts as the "NX on the go" then it is absolutely essential that the "NX portable" be backward compatible with all 3DS and DS game cartidges. You cannot expect every heavily invested owner of a 3DS, or a DS, to simply dump the console they've spent so much money on and just pick up an NX portable and only play NX supported games that also have a portable functionality. You should be able to just slot in your favourite 3DS and DS cartridges and play them just as you would on your old console. This is 100% essential because as we have been shown in the past, Nintendo is shit at producing 1st party games at a reasonable pace to meet consumer demand. Backwards compatibility with the portable side of things would make it a lot easier for a 3DS / DS owner to be more than willing to jump to Nintendo's future portable experience. There is simply too much investment from 3DS owners and from Nintendo into the 3DS to simply just drop it and expect everyone to jump onto the NX when we have been shown that the WII U is a diabolical failure. I don't think this time around people will be willing to buy a Nintendo home console just like that, they will have to seriously cater to the crowd that has been keeping them afloat for so long in order to at least break even, let alone turn a profit.
