Anytime I want to buy something, I try to search Reddit for it since all the bloggers are paid or use affiliate links, and I don’t think have ever used the product they are recommending. I find on Reddit that some products get recommended constantly in niche subreddits. I’ve bought based on those recommendations and have realized after that I fell for AstroTurf advertising. That model works so good because eventually real users start recommending products or things based on what they have read, not their own experience. It’s really effective advertising. It’s also how the Russians pushed propaganda in 2015-2016. NYT wrote an article about that.
