Maybe what's important to remember is that the people doing this are not educated or legitimate immigrants from foreign countries. They are coming here illegally, without the ability to support themselves, and they are uneducated and unskilled. No matter their origin, this is a problem. I think for the kids it would be unforunate because they were not asked to be born here only to be declared not a citizen. But we cannot have such lax immigration control in this country because the legitimate tax paying citizens pay the price for illegitimate immigration, whatever the means were for achieving it. We should still have legitimate immigration as always, but we cannot and should not be so lax about allowing people who break the rules to stay here. I don't understand the so-called "liberal" attitude towards rules. We create rules with the intention of making the country more fair for everyone. More fair for the citizens, tax-payers, and legitimate immigrants. By allowing rule-breakers to stay here, not pay taxes, etc., this is unfair and defeats the purpose of having these rules in the first place. Either change the rules to allow what we're implicitly allowing, or actually enforce the rules. The highly touted foreign countries that are rich and have a high standard of living all have strict immigration policies. That is not to say that they do not allow immigration. In fact I think having international people is one of the strongest points of the USA. But not adhering to our own rules is just ridiculous and doesn't help anyone. Not even those from foreign countries, since they may just end up being deported or their children being denied citizenship and ending up nationless.
