Daily GENERAL Mega-Thread [Mar 22 2017]

I'm currently ending my Sophomore year of pursuing my BS in Civil Engineering. I have a few internship options and am conflicted on what to do.

I currently work for a State water agency as an engineering intern and have worked here since last year, once the summer starts I will have more availability and will be able to do more tasks and more field work. The people are great, they give me lots of good tasks to do, and are always willing to help me learn and expand my knowledge.

My issue is that I have two summers left before graduating and I'm not sure if I should stay here or vary the places I have interned. If I end up working for the State somewhere down the road, the time I have spent here as an intern will also count towards my retirement years.

My option this summer: There is a city internship available, and the benefit there would be getting to touch on more aspects of Civil instead of just water. My options next summer: The city internship again, and a private industry internship at a large company.

Note: I plan to work and live in the city (100k population) I'm interning and going to school in. I currently enjoy hydrology and surface waters but it's also all I've really worked with.
