Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread

Hello, my name is Nurahk, Recently I have noticed the excessive amounts of poorly tuned bass on my current headphones (Razer Kraken Pro) and have been trying to decide what headphones I should get to replace them when the time comes. I have been looking around and trying to find a pair of cans that would fit my needs, but I realized this would be rather difficult due to the many uses and specific features that I look for in headphones. I decided that I would save myself some time and instead of looking at random reviews on the internet, I would take the topic here where there are lots of audiophiles and tech enthusiasts that would have some good recommendations and personal experience with those recommendations.

To start with, here are the things that must be present in a pair of cans before I even consider looking further into them: -Closed back design -Over the ear -Cost up to $200, though I can go higher if needed.

(I know many of you will say open back is better, which I know is true for atmospheric experiences, but I would be using these in public places, so I can't do open back)

Now, into specifics: I want these headphones to perform well in a variety of situations. I would like them to perform well as so called "lifestyle" headphones, seeing as I would like to wear them when I am out and about. This is one of the main reasons why they must be closed back. I would prefer not to bother those around me, so keeping sound in is important. While we are on the topic of "lifestyle" I would like to mention that the headphones should look good on the user. This is not too important to me, but would be a nice if possible. Size of the headphones also doesn't matter too much to me, as long as they aren't the size of the Grand Canyon, if you know what I mean. Oh, almost forgot. They should have decent build quality and last me quite a few years without breaking. I tend to take care of my electronics well, but even still, occasionally stuff will happen, and I would like it if the headphone are more likely to live through those situations.

I would also like these headphones to perform well as my main cans for my workstation. I do a number of things on my workstation, including music listening, gaming, video editing, coding, etc. I have recently started producing music using FL Studios, so that is something to keep in mind, but don’t worry too much about it. I know that you want a ridiculously flat sound when mixing, but I don’t know how serious I am going to get with music production. If I do start getting serious, I will get a pair of cans for that, but I am going to wait until that time comes. This is where sound quality comes into play. I want something that has great accuracy, but doesn't sacrifice an enjoyable listening experience for that accuracy. I know that sound quality comes down to personal taste, so here are a few things that are important: I prefer to have very mild emphasis on bass. Just enough that it is a bit more noticeable, but doesn't overpower everything else. The bass should be tight and punchy. Highs should be clear. Same goes for mids. Aside from that, everything needs to be distinguishable from each other. I guess I just want a neutral sound with a tad bit of emphasis on bass. The music genres I tend to listen to are metal, alternative, and electronic.

After a few days of searching the internet, I found some headphones that I have put under consideration. They are the Sennheiser HD6 Mix, and the Audio Technica ATH-M50x.

From personal experience are any of those headphones worth it, or are there other ones that would fit my needs better?

Oh, and I apologize for the length of this topic.
