Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread (2016-02-04)

** * Budget** - No higher than $200 and some change. ** * Source** - Desktop/laptop (30% use), LG G3 smartphone + an an inexpensive portable amp if necessary (70% use). ** * Isolation** - I don't really care one way or another, but I usually listen to music at max volume, and most of my listening happens either in my room, or while walking from class to class. ** Location of use* - I will be using these headphones around campus, if that qualifies as in public, and will happily hang headphones of any size and weight from my neck when doing so. ** Preferred Type* - Full Size ** Preferred Tonal Balance* - Most of my music is EDM, with some popular rock thrown in (but not much) such as Three Days Grace, for example. For this reason, my preferred balance would probably be bassy and fun when listening to EDM (I typically prefer low frequency dubstep), but not too alienating to male voices and electric guitars (I know I'm asking for a bit too much here, so focus on my EDM preference if needed. ** Preferred Music* - Answered above. ** What would you like to improve on?* - My previously owned headphones have been cheap, low quality headphones made by brands usually seen in high schools, so... Everything? Not but really, I've only owned two pairs of Skullcandies, ($40, then $60) and so just about anything not named after a rapper should be an upgrade... Cough cough. With that said, I've tried many headphones owned by my friends, such as Sony MDR 7506, which I didn't dislike for any one particular track (they're supposedly very accurate after all) but weren't as "fun" as I hoped either, the ATH-M50, wich fall in the same category as the Sony, and a pair of Sony MDR XB950BT I tried at a Best Buy store and sounded quite fun, but I suspect they were amped at the store (they had a single jack driving 4 pairs of headphones quite easily) and I don't feel like paying extra for bluetooth anyways.

Thanks in advance, and please leave any extra questions you might have. If you would like some "sample" music tracks to get a better idea of my taste in music, just let me know.
