Bit of a bunfight in Italian experts going on at the moment following the comments of the Head of ICU at San Raffele Milan Hospital.

Mi viene veramente da ridere. Oggi è il 31 di maggio e circa un mese fa sentivamo gli epidemiologi dire di temere grandemente una nuova ondata per la fine del mese/inizio di giugno e chissà quanti posti di terapia intensiva ci sarebbero stati da occupare. In realtà il virus, praticamente, dal punto di vista clinico non esiste più".

It makes me laugh really. Today it's the 31st May and a month ago we were hearing from epidemiologists grandly proclaiming a new way by the end of the month/start of June and who would know how many ICU beds would be full. In reality, the virus from a clinical point of view no longer exists

tamponi eseguiti negli ultimi 10 giorni hanno una carica virale dal punto di vista quantitativo assolutamente infinitesimale rispetto a quelli eseguiti su pazienti di un mese, due mesi fa. Lo dico consapevole del dramma che hanno vissuto i pazienti che non ce l'hanno fatta...

Swabs taken in the last 10 days have a viral loud absolutely infinitesimal in comparison to those taken from patients from one, two months ago. I say this cognisant of the drama/tragedy(?) for those those patients who did not survive...

However there's substantial pushback from people who have said it's only fallen due to containment measures etc, and those are in the article. But it's the second major Italian medical source to note the viral load has dropped majorly (posted another link in the Friday mthread)
