Daily NBA Discussion (March 06, 2015)

Hey all, last night went pretty well for us, hopefully we stay on track tonight! We got two players in our core tonight.

Demarcus Cousins (SAC - C) (DK $9,500, FD $10,600) It’s difficult not to recommend Cousins everytime he plays. We don’t always recommend high priced players because it doesn’t take a DFS expert to tell you that a player like Cousins is going to score a lot of points. However, tonight Cousins squares off against the Orlando Magic and Vucevic’s marshmallow soft defense. The two risks of Cousins are typically fouls and blowouts. This game is projected to stay close, so we like the odds of Cousins getting more than the 22-28 minutes he’s gotten in the past 4 games.

George Hill (IND - PG) (DK $6,300, FD $6,400) Still an under the radar guy despite having put up nothing short of 6x value in his last 4 games. In that span he has seen 12-16 field goal attempts per game and is active on all sides of the court, recording a triple double against Lebron & Co. In large slates we like to have low owned mid-priced guys who have a low floor and high ceiling. These are the type of plays that can separate you from the field.

With those 2 in mind, let’s fill up the rest of your lineup.

Mo Williams (MIN - PG) (DK $7,300, FD $7,400) Until Kemba Walker comes back, Mo Williams remains top dog in the Charlotte backcourt. While we’re never sure about whether it’ll be Henderson or MKG providing the scoring punch, Mo Williams has remained a consistent value, providing 40fps fairly regularly. Vegas projects this game to stay close and we like what Mo Williams can do in an above average matchup against the Raptors. Mo has put up a double-double in his last three games, and we see no reason why he won’t make it a fourth tonight.

Mike Conley (MEM - PG) (DK $5,900, FD $6,200) At its best, daily fantasy basketball is an unpredictable affair. We don’t like to say we’re certain of anything, because sports by its nature, is unpredictable and that’s why we watch… but we are certain of one thing. And it’s that Jeremy Lin and the Lakers are really, really bad at stopping opposing point guards. Tonight, Mike Conley is the beneficiary of that matchup and we like it. The risk here is the game doesn’t stay close long enough for Conley to hit value, but at his low price, he doesn’t need a full complement of minutes to pay off. If the game stays close, it could be a monster night. For his price, Conley has some of the highest upside on the slate tonight.

Kenneth Faried (DEN - PF) (DK $5,800, FD $6,100) The departure of Brian Shaw has unleashed the Manimal. As long as the minutes are there he is very productive. This matchup is against Duncan and the Spurs which has the highest spread (Den +11.5). Last two games he has played 32 minutes and had two double doubles while posting 7x and 9x returns. We’re still getting Brian Shaw prices here so take advantage while you still can. This is how I roll, Manimal print, pants outta control (NSFW).

Anthony Davis (NOR - PF) (DK $10,800, FD $11,200) Cousins is our big money play of the day with Anthony Davis as a close second. It might not even be too bad to include both in the same lineup and pickup a lot of value plays like Tony Allen. Boston is really undersized with Bass, Zeller, Olynyk, and Jerebko covering their backcourt. Should be pretty easy for AD to have his way with them. Boston is among the fastest pacing teams in the league which produce more opportunities. Last time Brow faced the Celtics he put up 34/9/4/3 blks, and he is coming off a very hot performance of 39/13/2 with 8 (eight) blocks. If you feel confident in your scrubs, feel free to deploy AD.

Andre Drummond (DET - C) (DK $7,800, FD $8,600) In Drummond’s last 13 games, he’s had 10 double-doubles. In the 3 games he didn’t he finished with 9 rebounds. We love his chances to make it 11 out of 14 tonight, against the Rockets who without Howard are hopeless against opposing centers. This game has one of the higher over-under’s tonight, and Vegas thinks it should stay somewhat close. We think Drummond will be a big reason for this and we love his potential for a monster game tonight. We can’t blame you if you look at Greg Monroe instead, because Cousins is our top rated Center tonight. Still, especially on DraftKings, Drummond is one of our favorite plays tonight.

Victor Oladipo (ORL - SG) (DK $7,000, FD $7,200) Unfortunately, Oladipo had one of his career best games last game. This combined with a fairly weak slate of SGs might lead to high ownership even on a big slate. That said, we still love Oladipo’s chances against a Sacramento team that gives up points in bunches to shooting guards. Oladipo is one of those players who can fill the box score, especially in the steals department which can lead to big days in DFS. We think he’s one of the better shooting guard plays tonight, and he’s definitely worth a look.

Kawhi Leonard (SAS - SF) (DK $7,400, FD $7,300) Leonard is one of our favorite Spurs because he isn’t in the mess of guards who Pop seems to rotate at random, and he isn’t apt to be given random days off like some of the veterans. Like Oladipo, Leonard can fill the box score and give you fantasy points from more than just scoring. Against the Nuggets earlier this year he went for over 40fps, and we like his chances for a repeat performance. The blowout risk is there, but Leonard usually gets a nearly full compliment of minutes in any event.

Good luck all! We’d love to hear your feedback, check us out at DFSKnights!
