Daily Purchase Advice Thread (2016-03-19)

Hello everyone, I have been looking for a stereo system for a few weeks and each but I cannot make up my mind. At the age of 48 I can still remember listen to Bose speakers for the first time, I think they were the 901's but not sure, and I remember being blown away by the realism of the sound and hoping to one day own a nice stereo system. Well, that never happened but I recently decided it was time to give myself something nice rather than go on vacation this year. Please have a look at the answers to your purchase question guide. I would appreciate your input. I just want to enjoy great sounding movies, and great sounding music, but I am in an apartment so I will not be able to blast the music. More detail below. thanks in advance.

$1,500 for speakers $1,000 for receiver

2 Floor Standing speakers for a 20x25 living room in a city apartment.

Speakers will be placed on either side of a 65 inch television (soon to be 4k) and used for movies and for music from Spotify, youtube, iphone/android and from lossless flac files served from a NAS. I also have an xbox 360 from which I watch plex, netflix and amazon prime. I don't have a particular music that I like, I listen to just about everything.

I currently own no gear except a $70 pair of logitech speakers connected to my pc.

I plan to use Yamaha RX-A1050 7.2-Channel MusicCast AV Receiver with Built-In Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

I prefer not to buy used, but I don't need to spend the planned budget either, if I can buy something cheaper that meets my needs I will.

Since I am in an apartment I DO NOT plan to play my system at high volume levels, but I do want it to sound great and lower volume levels, I want clear crisp sound without a crazy amount of bass or at least bass that I can lower and maybe raise higher for new years and parties.

Thanks again
