If they had allowed the people to decide the matter it would have been way harder to eviscerate it after the fact.

Yeah, and you would have to contend with the possibility that the people would vote it down because it was too much too quick.

Republicans guaranteed a minimum wage increase was going to happen because even they thought it was time. You are so polarized and fixated on getting everything that compromise is something you can't even contemplate.
