damn, that's kind of true

Makeup is the same as hairstyle it depends on your facial features/head shape. It can take a bit of experimenting but the best hair, beard, or makeup should work with your face to accentuate the positive bits and cover the less positive bits.

While I'm not as well versed in makeup an example for beards is I have a baby face with a not well defined chin so I have a beard that I trim in sharp lines to make my chin and cheeks look better defined. While growing it out I learned that it is coarse and wavy so there would be a significant amount of time where it just looks unkempt so I keep it fairly short and shorter on the sides to both make it look less curly and make my face look taller. I also style my hair in a way to make my head look less round where I keep it fairly short (3/8") on the sides and leave the top longer and I style it like current trends.

I'd suggest looking up hair styles and beard styles and makeup styles and think of how they frame your face.
