potentially great jokes and casting aside, i feel like an adult Captain Planet high-concept comedy would actually be a great project for dan to work on.

• it's a campy, early 90's cartoon (Dan has parodied 80's shows and the 90's are also his wheelhouse)
• it has a "comic book" superhero, which Dan (and his demographic) are familiar with
• aside from the mythology of a "Superhero", there is also the "Mother Earth/God/Elemental" aspect in Gaia
• Whoopi Goldburg was Gaia. Imagine her reprising her role, while also mixing in some goofy Guinan/TNG concepts? (dan knows Star Trek, which is rife with heady ideas)
• CP was vehicle for discussing social issues, namely environmentalism, but also drug use and the AIDS epidemic. Dan could continue to use it to explore modern issues, while poking fun at the original show and the new one itself (in dan's trademark self-aware style)
• The protagonists of extremely different races/nationalities/genders were clearly "forced" diversity. Dan's obvious affinity for discussing race (and how it's handled in media/society)
• The main characters were a party of 5. The adventures they get into and their individual roles/personalities/abilities could be handled like DnD.
• The enemies were over-the-top, campy villains, with extremely obvious and hilariously dumb names. whatever threat the new villains embody in Dan's show could be given the same treatment (with more self-awareness)
• Dan likes using celebrity guests/cameos and the villains were often voiced by big name celebrities.
• the show had obvious flaws that could be addressed/emulated, e.g. the low budget animation, the fact that CP was almost never utilized well, or the legal troubles they faced with the naming of Duke Nukem.

these are all goofy ideas, but i honestly think it could work. it would not only be a fun/funny project with a bit of stuff for dan to work with, but it would also be one of the only possible ways to revive the IP.
