Okay come on now this is still a little far-fetched, right? Is there any evidence to this or are we just assuming the FBI—the guys that do background checks for the entirety of the U.S. federal government—somehow accidentally let a Russian operative into their ranks?

That turns the whole thing into a much bigger story than what we're getting. Are we just assuming the media has deteriorated to a level of supreme incompetence or incapacity to perform their primary function in society?

I mean how far down do we really think this country has slid in this short time? Our institutions didn't all just evaporated in dust, did they?

Let's stop writing eulogies for our agencies and political framework of norms and values and instead let's be writing our politicians and families and friends and organizations to save and uohold these things.
