Dane County supervisors pass $28 wheel tax

I have mixed feelings about this, but in the end, I'm probably more in favor of it than not.

Allow me to stand on a soapbox for a moment please. The roads in Wisconsin suck. I'd challenge anyone to try to make an argument against that. The current regime ruling from the State Capitol should shoulder a lot of the blame for our deteriorating roads, but at the same time, our society has let these wackadoos get away with moving the center further and further to the right so it's our fault too. With that, our infrastructure decays, our greedy, I-got-mine attitude has increased, and extremely vocal minorities are allowed to make policy dictating what women can do with their bodies, removal of Net Neutrality, debating whether healthcare is a human right, and all of the other propped-up crap that's made to divide us.

Sorry, I went off the rails. This is a tangent not related to the topic at hand. So, like, I don't know. The state of the world, country, and state are pretty depressing at the moment. At least for me anyway. I hope we are approaching a turning point, but my cynicism tells me otherwise. I don't think we've reached the bottom of the barrel yet.

As far as the wheel tax, I am fortunate enough to be able to afford this, but I worry about those who will struggle to pay. But I also worry about their inability to see a doctor or to get a steady, secure job. I hope the wheel tax helps improve our infrastructure, but this is such a minor problem in the scheme of things.

Stay hopeful, people. Now I'll step off the soapbox.
