Dangerous Xbone Stunt

I don't consider consoles overpriced bullshit. Yes, you can build an equivalent PC for around the same cost or less than a console, but with the added effort that goes into learning how to build a PC, some people are happy to pay a little more to just not worry about it. (I was actually very happy to learn how to build my PC, it was a great learning experience).

Are Macs overpriced from a spec perspective? Absolutely. Piece for piece, however, Apple's profit margins on their desktops isn't as wide as you think; they're actually pretty standard for a prebuilt computer with a complete OS (Linus mentions this in his hackintosh tutorial).

I will be very impressed if you could show me a PC part picker list that destroys out the new 5K iMac using the SAME (not equivalent) components. I've tried, and it comes pretty damn close (And I tried before there were many 5K monitors in production, so I was using a 4K).

Apple uses more expensive, higher quality parts for their machines. The keyboard on my Macbook is fantastic-- actually, all mac keyboards I've used are just an absolute pleasure to type on, else I probably couldn't be bothered to give you a lengthly response :P

The trackpad on this thing is also the fucking bee's knees. Its multi-touch support is SO much better than anything I've ever experienced on another laptop. I have so many recorded gestures in this thing that I actually prefer it over a mouse. (swipe four fingers to switch workspaces, four up for mission control, tap with three fingers to look up a word under your cursor in the built in dictionary)

Scrolling behavior and overall functionality of the entire OS is also very smooth, compared to rather jittery/steppy motions of a PC. It's rather hard to explain, and only something you really start to enjoy after using one for quite a while.

I HAVE a PC. And the thing is a beast (or will be when I upgrade my CPU (although the G3258 is a great chip for its price)), but I'm consistently choosing to use my Macbook to browse reddit, write my papers, edit videos, and wait for that fucking button timer to stop. It's just a lot nicer of an experience I find on my Mac, and no amount of insane horsepower under the hood would really improve that.

I know that a lot of the benefits I described are attainable on PC- I'm sure there's a high quality trackpad, a dope mechanical keyboard, an awesome to utilize multitouch gestures and manage workspaces, but so often in the "Macs are overpriced" argument, these things are skimped out in a price comparison, when they're included in Mac.

Even if the entire Mac OSX experience can be emulated by a Windows or Linux machine, in the end the price differential is more marginal than it seems, and it just becomes a headache to get everything to Mac OSX's simplicity and functionality.
