Daughters of reddit, what is something you wish your father knew about girls when you were growing up?

What’s there to get? Who is talking about love here? You can live your daughter endlessly and still wish she was a son. You are confusing “wishing for a son” with “not loving your daughter”. You can be the best dad you can be to a daughter and yet know that you would have been a better dad to a son, would have had more to teach them, could relate more, would enjoy doing things together more, would probably find more things in common etc.

You are reading into it whatever you want to and maybe projecting your own insecurities. No one is talking about disliking or not loving your kid, this is about what you would rather have. You can love both your arms but you prefer your right/left. Preferring one does not mean you don’t like the other.
