You're wrong, and that's okay. You don't know my life...and all registration can't be done online...b/c I spent nearly a year battling with my state and my lien holder to register my car when I moved back to the US 2.5 years ago. Specifically b/c my lien holder was not in some electronic system and apparently had no idea how to use certified mail. And when a website can't accept information online and it has to be added manually by a person, you call and wait in the queue, then try to add over the phone, and then someone has to find a manager, b/c, "I can't enter that information in the system, b/c it's not American."

When the military sent my husband to Europe, several systems broke down and we ended up $20k in debt inside a year. We managed to get back on track about a year before we were supposed to come home...minus about $4k we still owed on the car (with a 24% interest rate, b/c when you live overseas as Americans it turns out you can't just get a loan for a car, you have to find one of those military specific predatory lenders like eagle or Omni or other short named lenders).

And shit happens outside of your control. And we still have that car, and no payment, and are totally living in poverty with zero actual income...but we manage to make it work with grants, scholarships, and VA benefits. Because this is temporary, and eventually things will be different.

I guess the first "bad decision" was a combat injury my husband sustained in Afghanistan. Whoops.
