Day 1,287 of the US Gov shutdown

Both competing bills to reopen the government that appeared before Congress today, one authored by the GOP that includes the $5.7 bil for the wall and the one authored by the Dems that doesn't include it, died in the Republican-controlled Senate. Two Republicans voted against the GOP bill, so even if they had a supermajority the bill still would have failed to make it out of the Senate even when considering that all but one Democrat voted against the bill (Joe Manchin of WV, in case you want to know who). On the flip side, 6 Republicans voted in favor of the Democrat bill with no funding.

While I can't say when it will end there are some pretty clear signs that Congress isn't interested in funding Trump's wall, seeing that a GOP bill with funding couldn't even get all Senate GOPers on board, so maybe Mitch or Trump will take the L at some point in the near future and reopen the government? Likely not Trump so it will need to be Mitch.
